Each Scout group must have an Executive Committee (commonly known as an 'exec') to ensure it is run properly.
Full details are set out in the Scout Association's Policy, Organisation & Rules (POR) section 3.24
A well-functioning exec frees up section leaders and the GSL to focus on delivering their programme and events to young people, whilst the administration of the group is dealt with by the chair, secretary and treasurer.
The exec should meet at least once per term. This can be combined with the leaders' programme planning or kept separate.
A selection of role descriptions and sample documents are included below to help you get started.
